Family-School Compact 2024-2025

What is a Family - School Compact?

It is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all students get the support they need to reach and exceed grade - level standards.

Jointly Developed With Parents

The parents at AIMS helped develop this Family - School Compact. Schoolwide meetings are held each year to update the compact. Parents are welcome to contribute comments at any time.

School Goals

Positive School Culture:

  • Increase student engagement.
  • Increase attendance.
  • Implement restorative practices.

Mathematics:

  • Increase scores by 10% on state assessments (MCAs).
  • Increase scores by 10% on benchmark screeners.

Literacy:

  • Increase scores by 10% on state assessments (MCAs).
  • Increase scores by 10% on benchmark screeners.

Activities to Support Partnerships

  • Attend Culture Fairs:
    • Plains - December
    • Woodlands - March
    • All Nations - May
  • Attend powwows and other school events.

Parent Communication

  • Watch for texts, emails, and phone calls, weekly newsletter from AIMS for ways parents can be involved. Let your child’s teacher know the best way to contact you.
  • Check AIMS website for additional information www.spps.org/aims.

At Home

  • Read at least 30 minutes per day at home.
  • Complete homework.
  • Charge iPad nightly.
  • Make sure your child brings their iPad and charger to school each day.
  • Attend school events.

In the Classroom

Some of AIMS key classroom practices for success include:

  • Small group instruction in literacy and math.
  • Collaboration with special education and multi-lingual support.
  • Well rounded education (Ojibwe and Lakota/ Dakota language instruction, physical education, art, and science).
  • Academic support services in literacy and math.

AIMS Students

  • Talk with your family about what you are learning at school.
  • Bring school notices home.
  • Bring your iPad and charger each day.
  • Read books to someone at home.
