About Ms. Davin

Merry Davin
I am Mrs. Davin, the new Literacy Coach, but I am not new to the American Indian Magnet School.  I taught here from 1991 (when the school first opened) until 1998, in first, second and fourth grades.  I explored other schools in Saint Paul but I always missed being at AIMS.  I am happy and excited to be back!

I grew up in Wisconsin Dells where Native culture is very important to the history of the area.  I had many Winnebago

(Ho-Chunk) friends in school and worked several years at the Indian Ceremonial.

Minnesota has been my home for the past 30 years, almost all of it in Dakota County.  My daughters Alayne and Lesley are both married now.  Alayne lives and works in Boston; Lesley is a busy mom to Marcus, III and lives in Mendota Heights.  My husband Roger and I enjoy camping, kayaking, canoeing, biking and hiking (I love the woods!).  We also love to read, go to plays and brass band concerts.  Roger’s an

actor and musician himself!  My stepsons Sebastian and Seth have their own rock-and- roll band, Dropping Daylight.  Grace, my stepdaughter, is a sophomore in college and is currently spending a year learning in Birmingham, England.

Reading has always been an important part of my life.  I spent hours and hours in my hometown library when I was growing up.  I am honored to be the Literacy Coach here, working with teachers and helping students to raise their reading levels.
