At American Indian Magnet School, students study the rich history, culture, and language of area tribes including Ojibwe and D/Lakota. A strong sense of community is built through an emphasis on core values including respect, love, courage, wisdom, honesty, humility, and truth. Ojibwe and D/Lakota specialists also provide language and cultural opportunities for students, parents, and staff.

AIMS encourages all parents be involved in their student's academic success by welcoming them into the classroom, attending events, reading with students at home, and volunteering.

Principal's Corner
Dear Parents,

Please welcome our new staff to support the learning of our students: Ms. Amanda Dachel (AIMS kindergarten teacher), Ms. Nicole Lonetree (reading teacher), Ms. Kathleen Westafer (reading teacher), and Mr. Meng Xiong (security guard).

Additionally, the school principal, intern assistant principal, and behavior specialist will be spending two full days every week in classrooms in order to help improve the teaching and learning that happens on a daily basis.

Therefore, we may not always be available to speak with you when you drop in or telephone us.  However, we really do value communicating with you.

So, when you want to speak with your principal, assistant principal, or behavior specialist, please contact our secretary who will schedule a time for us to meet or talk.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and your patience and understanding as we implement these practices.

Respectfully,

Mary Weyandt
Principal
